Wendell's is a small, quaint restaurant downtown in the South Main district located around the galleries. It offers a variety of fish and meat dishes with daily specials. Side items can vary depending on Chef Wendell's preferences…each with the same entrée. The food is very good…so much so we'd give it a 10. However, the service (at least on our 1 visit) was horrible…so much so we'd give it a 0. The service was bad from our very first attempt to make a reservation with them, to the hour and 15 minute wait in a less than half full restaurant. The wine selection and presentation were very weak, we had to wait 25 minutes to place our order (even after telling our waiter that we were in a hurry), and one of our entrée's was served luke-warm.
If you can tolerate the service, décor, and wait, then Wendell's is definitely worth your visit for the food experience.
